I've checked the box to receive email notification of new comments on my blog Northwest Notes (www.northwestnotes.net). But sometimes the email never comes. For instance all five comments on today's post were not emailed to me. Same thing happened once last month. Can you suggest anything? Thanks.

I'd check with your server admin that all is well with the sendmail function on the server. And double check that the email addresses, or content of the comments aren't likely to have been trapped in your server's spam filters. smile.gif

Sendmail seems to be fine because I did receive unrelated email (and spam) on the same day. The comments' content, email addresses, and URLs are not filtered as spam; I'm certain of that because four of the five commenters are frequent commenters, and the fifth is myself. Thanks for your help and please let me know if you can think of anything else I can try.

Sendmail is not the same thing as being able to recieve mail -- it's a program on the webserver used to send mail from cgi programs.

I have also observed the same thing in the past 8 months that my blog's been in operation. (MT 2.64.) Most of the time I get comments, but sometimes I don't.

The comments that have not got to me have not triggered any SPAM filter nor, if they did, have they appeared in my "quarantined" account where they would normally be sent.

I use postfix and procmail for incoming messages without any problem.

I haven't bothered to really investigate this (after 8 months this is the first time I've done a search here on the problem) since my traffic is so slow that it doesn't really matter right now if I see something or not.
