I want to have some sort of a seperation between my posts, and thought of using colors: for example, whenever I paste a poem it would have a bright pink background, and when I post a comment on a movie it would be green. The idea is that the color is determined by the catahory of entry; it will change automatically according to the selected one.

It doesn't have to be a background color; it could be different font, different font color, different boreder, and so on.

any suggestions?

You might get some ideas from this thread, which suggests using the EntryCategory as a class in your stylesheet.

You could also use Brad Choate's "Key value Pairs" plugin to assign color classes in the extended entry field. I've been using Key Value Pairs to append style sheets to specific entries.

Maddy, thanks for the suggestion... it seems like it should work, however I get lost in the code. I don't have any MTcategory tag anywhere, where should it be? and what's with that dirfy=1? It reminds me that I turned categories on, but still I don't see them show up at the bottom of each entry.

The KeyValues plugin is here. Category information can be found in this section of the manual (you need to insert most category information yourself). And "dirifying" means using words (like the entry title) for your file names - this thread has more about that.
