Carrot Cake
when I try to acces my log
http://www.carrot-cake.net/cgi-bin/mt/mt.cgi

in I get a webpage saying this:

Got an error: Connection error: Access denied for user: 'carrot@localhost' (Using password: YES)

I tried an upgrade to see if that reset or restored whatever that hacker had attacked but to no avail.

On the rest of my site all the index files have been affected.

Can anybody help? It appears that all files that are not named index are okay and really dont want to loose everything.

The error is telling you that MT was unable to connect to the database. Check the database and make sure the user tables are intact and that the password stored in mt-db-pass.cgi is correct.

Okay the password is fine but how exactly do I check the databases.
Sorry for being so slow but I need this explained to me a bit more. I'm more of a front-end kind of person.

I am now trying to re-install MT and all has gone fine until I went to run mt-load.cgi and got that same message:

Connection error: Access denied for user: 'carrot@localhost' (Using password: YES)

I have checked and re-checked the password. I've checked the username.
I dont know what else to do. How do I check that the user tables are intact? I cant even finish the re-install.

My site is: http://www.carrot-cake.net
my MT log in is at: http://www.carrot-cake.net/cgi-bin/mt/mt.cgi
or it should be.
I'm running on MySQL
I dont know what else to tell you

Carrot- nice site url. smile.gif if you think your website has been broken into, you need to contact your hosts immediately. they might need to heighten security at your server, and they'd know what to do. go to the webhost's site and open a trouble ticket and tell them what happened. i assume you can still log in through ftp, so check to see when your other files were affected. the more info your host has about this, the more they can help. mention the movabletype problem too.

good luck. smile.gif
