Full Version: Spam comments REPLACING my posts!

I have discovered a new (to me at least) and VERY disturbing phenomenon on my blog: spam-comments that, when deleted, somehow insert themselves into the body of my post, and actually replace the original text of the post!!!

I experienced this once before, and thought maybe I was dreaming smile.gif, or had done something wrong somehow. But in importing my 2,000+ blog posts into a new blog with new templates just now, I found six or seven comments that do this. I am sure I did exactly the normal thing: opened the comment from the "recent comments" list on my menu, clicked "delete," and voila, the post's body text is replaced by the comment text. (!!!) I checked in one case, and the post text was definitely fine UNTIL I deleted the comment. So it is in the deletion process that this intrusion is happening.

The comments that do this also seem to have some weird property that causes them to be listed at the top of my list of recent comments list -- the import process records their time of import, rather than their time of creation, as the time on the comment. And the comment is listed in its "raw" form from the import file -- the IP address, time etc., are all listed in the body of the comment, instead of in separate fields. I mention this only because I figure it might be a clue to what sets these comments apart from other comments and allows them to somehow erase the posts when deleted.

Has anyone heard of this before? Any clue how to fix it??

I am running MT 2.661... but this problem previously happened before I installed the new version, when I was on version 2.5something. So it's not a version-specific issue, seemingly.

If somebody could move this topic into Bug Reports or whatever the correct place would be ... I didn't mean to put it in Installation Problems.. sorry smile.gif
