Full Version: (BerkeleyDB) Database spontaneously corrupted

Somehow my berkelydb-based MT installation spontaneously decided that it would no longer be able to read the .db files. I first noticed this when trying to view comments. I'd get this error instead:

QUOTE
An error occurred:

Invalid entry ID '125'

I then tried logging into MT, and it told me that my username/pass were invalid. Tried recovering the password, that didn't work either.

I don't know what happened, but a reinstallation of MT worked fine. Now I need to figure out a way to recover the data from the old .db files, because reuploading them results in:

QUOTE
Invalid login.

And any attempts to recover the password result in:

QUOTE
No such author with name 'alphatronics'

It'd be great to not lose a few year's worth of posts, if anyone knows how to extract the data.

Thanks!

Unable to find any programs suited for easily extracting data from a Berkely DB file, I have opted to extract the data using the "string" function in *nix/*bsd (in this case linux). I will format it to match the export format that movabletype creates when I use that function.

Thanks for all the help! sad.gif
