I've been noticing something really weird the past few days.

It seems that certain comments, all spam, do not go through the MovableType system, or something like that.

Let me explain further. Usually, when a new comment is made, I get an e-mail sent to one of my e-mail addy's. Also, comments are checked by MT-Blacklist for spam. So far this has been working perfectly.

But lately I've been getting "silent" comments. No e-mail, nor are they checked by MT-Blacklist, they 'walk' right through my spam-defense.

I then notice the comments when I go to my blog editing screen, after which I immediately delete them all.

Has this happened to anyone else? I'm really confused to how this can happen

When you say that the comments aren't being checked by MT-Blacklist, what do you mean? Are there URLs in these comments that you know are on your blacklist but the comments are being posted anyway? MT-Blacklist won't block everything that turns out to be spam; it's only as good as its list of blocked URLs. If the spammer uses a URL that isn't already on the list, the comment will go through.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. Also, I don't get an e-mail either when the comments are posted.

I would recommend that you contact the developer of MT-Blacklist, Jay Allen and give him as much detail as you can about your problem. He will be able to help you much better than people at the forums will.

What version of MT are you using, and what version of MT Blacklist are you using?

P.S. If the comments are spam, the notification emails could be getting trapped by a spam filter.
