Sounds interesting, but the big question is this: presumably the entries would be imported from Blogger, then the comments imported using this mechanism--how does one keep track of which comments are associated with which entries? Is the "thread ID" the blogger (or other) entry ID? If so, I suppose we would need to maintain knowledge of the ID of the original imported data--we don't currently do that.

Sure, w/ GreyMatter imports you can import entries and comments at the same time. But with Blogger, since the comments and entries are coming from such different systems, I don't think it would be easy to join the two into the common format expected by the import mechanism.

Hi,
Would it be possible for you guys to implement CAIF import for comments? CAIF is a standard format for importing/exporting comments (A description is located at
http://www.diaries.com/digiboy/caif ). This would make it easier for blogger/radio users with remotely hosted comments to make the switch to MT. There are already at least 2 remotely hosted comment services that export CAIF, which means that there are about 7000-8000 people who would have the ability to more easily switch to MT.
Thanks!

Yeah, the comments are associated with the "thread ID," which would be the BlogItemNumber in the case of Blogger. I'm not sure how you import blogger entries in MT, but one possibility would be to allow the user to import blogger entries and comments at the same time, so that you don't have to keep the BlogItemNumber information.
