I would love to be able to have my MT templates generate .shtml files, capable of handling Server Siide Includes.

Then, every time I want to add something (a link, a GIF) to the margin/side bar in my main index (or wherever) I could update the included file instead if modifying the template.

Use the MTWiki: Converting to PHP guide, but everywhere it says 'php' replace it with 'shtml'.

btw: php is better, if you can I'd go with that - lots of solutions and some plugins require it. =)
