I may be being extremely stupid here......but....
i write for a blog and it is now not allowing any comments. We have checked everything and everything does seem to be in order (IE box checked allowing comments etc.)....we had been getting a lot of spam and perhaps this had something to do with it? We banned a lot of IP numbers but we have checked and we don't have the IP numbers that have been banned.....anyone got any ideas? It's a bit urgent.....

Are you getting messages with the comment denials? Do you have MT-Blacklist installed? Is there information about the comment denials in the Activity Log for MT?

A link to the site where this is happening might be useful, too.

I have checked the activity log, and there's nothing there.

The message we all get when we attempt to post is

'You are not allowed to post comments.'

Did you check your banned IP list for blank entries? If you click "Add" with an empty text input, then you wind up banning "" which matches any IP.
