My client requires a new site to be created each calendar year - new art, new blog, new everything. Each site would site in it's own directory - eg: www.mydomain.com/2004/ etc.

So my question is: how do I do a new installation of MT each year? Can MT be installed to just the /(year)/ directory - or can there only be one installation per domain?

As far as i am aware you could treat this as multiple blogs. You'd have your main MT install folder. and then a folder for each year which would be it's own blog, but using the one main MT install...

My fear with your suggestion is that, as each year will have several Blogs within the site, in a few years I will have a very long list of blogs - most of which are not used.

Probably best to see exactly how your clients requires the site to be structured with regard to blogs, catagories, etc and that should then allow you to map out the most effective method of setting up the different blogs, etc.

Another option may be to use the Subcategory plugin with the main categories as the years (ie. 2004, 2003, 2002) and subcatagories as the different topics, etc required.
