So I think I have a funky issue. I'm using Daily Archiving, and I've already uploaded a working daily archive template to handle the formatting of those Archive Pages. Generally the date based archive template works fine -- whenever I add a new entry, it goes though, and the Archive Index links to the new archive page (040411.html, for example), and when it is loaded it is formatted correctly... no problems.


BUT... after I add a comment to an entry, every time I try to view the archive page again (040411.html), the page loads without using the Date Based Archive Template. The OLD formatting that the archive pages ORIGINALLY used to look like shows up instead with the new comment added on. The file (040411.html) remains formatted incorrectly up until I rebuild?

I'm wondering if this is a Comment Template Problem or a Date Based Archive Template problem. I'm assuming the latter. Any suggestions?

Does this make any sense at all?
Am I missing something incredibly obvious?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm having a very hard time picturing what you're trying to explain. Can you post the URL to your site where this is happening?

click on "fixed" in the archive and the popup page will load with the INCORRECT formatting. (easter or any of the other entries have the correct formatting.) whenever i add a comment to any of the entries, it shows up with the wrong formatting. why does this happen?

you can try it yourself, too. add a comment to any of the entries, and then click on the link to that entry on the archive page. it will load a popup page that is formatted the wrong way.

is this a date based archive template problem? or a comment listeing template problem?

It's not the comment listing template. So, it's either the Date-Based (Daily) archive, or it is an Individual template. Before the comment is posted, everything is fine, with a link to the comments popup. After the comment is posted, it looks like the comments are being displayed under the entry, which is the default behaviour for an Individual archive template.

Is that how you coded your template? To show the comments inline on the Date Based archive, if there were any? What types of archiving do you have turned on? What are the Archive File Templates for each of those types?

It's possible pages are being overwritten when the entry is rebuilt, if you have the same Archive File Templates for more than one type of archiving.

Can you give some more details about your set up, and if the Archive File Template issue doesn't ring any bells, maybe post the contents of your relevant templates here (or better yet, post a link to a text file on your server)?

Thanks, it's fixed. You were right, it was an issue betwen individual archiving and daily archiving. I used the same archive template for Individual Archives and Date Based Archives, and for whatever reason that gave me issues. I solved the problem by taking out Individual Archiving (unchecking the box in my archvie preferences) and rebuilding. Now I can add comments and all the formatting comes out correct.

No biggie taking out Individual Archiving. It solved the problem so I'm aOkay! Thanks a ton!
