My RSS feed doesn't get updated when I publish a new article. I have to wait a day or so before the RSS reflects the new posts. Is this a bug, or configuration error on my part? I am on Movable Type 2.661.
Thanks,
- Vivek

Do you mean the feed index file on your server isn't being updated?
There's nothing about MT that would make the changes show up "in a day or so" - it doesn't build the files hours after you ask it to do so - it either does it right then or it doesn't do it at all (depending on your settings, etc.).

Yes, thats right.
The index file on the server is not being updated. I even opened up index.rdf in a text editor and saw that it doesn't have the items I posted.
Is there something that I need to do in the configuration to make it update it?

In the MT interface under Templates, you might double check that the index.rdf template is set to automatically rebuild.

Ok, I did the following:
1. I posted an article on my blog (www.soaprpc.com) at 2:06 pm PDT.
2. I try reading it via a RSS reader (BlogExpress), do syncronize a couple of times. Nothing happens- the articles dont appear.
3. I download the index.rdf and view in text editor- the new posts aren't there.
4. I start up BlogExpress now (8 hours later), and the posts are there.
5. I download the index.rdf, and view in text editor- and I can see the item entries for the new posts..
6. I'm puzzled!

browser/proxy/firewall cache?

Hmm.. I did think of that- especially since the first time I accessed it was from my work PC (behind a proxy), and the second time was at home..
However I ruled it out as:
1. I browsed the website using IE, and I saw the new post.
2. I saved the index.rdf from the site and opened it with a text editor- no item entry for the new post
3. I did a syncronize in my RSS reader (BlogExpress) and no new post..
Now unless my proxy is behaving really weird (serving up index.rdf from cache, but the latest version of index.html), I dont have a answer!
I understand that MT generates all files at publish-time, and there are no dynamic files generated so it *should* be all-or-nothing.
I might have done a rebuild-site a couple of times at home to force it to build a new RSS file, and one of them might have done it.
And yes, the "Rebuild' is set to "Yes" in my Templates menu.
Thanks for your help,
- Vivek
