It's been several years since I delved into MT. Back then there were two additional modules required to run MT on our hosting servers, other than DB_File_Perl. They were:
HTML::Template
Image::Size
Can anyone tell me if these are still needed?

Yes, they are. If you run mt-check.cgi, you'll see that it runs a check for them.
