I'm wondering if there could just be a way of preserving line breaks and paragraphs within the body text without wrapping the entire thing in opening and closing P tags.

Because even if you had something like you describe, the convert line breaks option still puts those tags at the beginning and end, doesn't it - forcing the body text on the next line regardless?

Then again, without that opening P tag, I guess the HTML would get mucked up when MT tried to close the first paragraph within the text and start the next one - unless you manually inserted the opening P tag before your title in your template.

Ugh, this got more confusing than I thought it would.

girlie,

  Couldn't you just do:
CODE
<MTEntries> ... <MTEntryTitle> -- <$MTEntryBody$> ... </MTEntries>

That should do it...

yoohoooo Brenna??

Was there more to your post than a smiley?

gramcracker: if you have "Convert line breaks and paragraphs" set to Yes, MT will insert P tags around the MTEntryBody tag, so coding it as in your example won't make a difference.

Unless I'm missing what you're getting at?

That's what I get for trying to be cute.  Sorry Shelley.  smile.gif <= that smiley is not clickable

I like to have my title on the same line as my first line of article text, like this:

Title -- Article text on the same line so I can use my space more efficiently and stuff like that.

I can do this today by turning-off "Convert line breaks". The trouble is, I would like to have "convert line breaks" on for my article text, and still have the title on the same line as the first line of the article.

Can you add a new config "Put title on its own line" with a default of yes? That preserves compatibility and lets me do things the way I like.
