I have a working BLOG, but when in the main menu, I try to create a new blog, I get the following error.

Writing to '/home/mojotex/public_html/lakeside/index.html.new' failed: Opening local file '/home/mojotex/public_html/lakeside/index.html.new' failed: No such file or directory

Any thoughts on what the solution might be?

did you create the lakeside directory manually? mt has problems with that for new blogs.

Yes, I did create the folders manually. So, I destroyed those folders, deleted the blog, and started all over. I created a new blog, named it, and gave it paths to directories that had not been created yet.

Sadly sad.gif , this didn't work. I got the following error when I tried to create the blog:

you have to change permissions on the directories you created such that MT can write to them.. do you know how to do that?

RLD,
Yes, I can CHMOD directories to be 777, but the thing is that I have a working installation of MT going with a working blog in it. I am trying to create a NEW blog within it using the feature Create new Weblog from the Main Menu.
LisaJill advised me not to create my own folders for this new blog, and to let MT create them. Is this not the case?
More to the point, I believe I have tried this both ways (creating folders myself and making them 777 and letting MT handle it) and both methods result the same.

You have to at least create the main folder for the new blog, as MT will not create that for you (it will create the archives folder in that new folder though, if that's where you set the Local Archive Path to publish).

What are the paths you're using in your current, working blog?

well I dont know about that ... I have 10+ weblogs on my installation.. and MT never could create them.. so I always created seperate directories, and then created an archives subdirectory for each.. did it manually, then chmodded, only then would MT work properly.

I sure would like MT to make them automatically .. but since the above works, and it takes 2 seconds.. whats the harm, right?
