Has anyone else noticed very slow logging in times in 3.0 D?

I upgraded from version 2.66 to the commercial version of 3.0D and now it takes ages to log in. However, after I've successfully logged in, everything runs smoothly.

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the Movable Type News feed on the main menu.

Don't know if this topic would be useful or not.

I think that explains it perfectly, thank you!

Since my host (and others out there) have a very tight control on port 80, they require me to specify IPs to un-block. If you are using a news-feed like that it would be very helpful if the IP address was disclosed in an obvious way.

Many thanks for the help.

PS - Any chance you could take a look at this problem regarding the comments system on my blog: http://www.movabletype.org/support/index.p...ST&f=27&t=41403

Thanks again. smile.gif

MT isn't requesting the news feed by IP - it's getting it by requesting the following URL:
CODE
http://www.movabletype.org/news/newsbox.html

Doing a traceroute to movabletype.org, the last hop is the following:
CODE
serge.sixapart.com [66.216.96.146]

I don't know if this is good enough for what you need, but there it is. smile.gif

I have this trouble too.

My other trouble is that Idon't understand most of this thread and the others that it refers to!

Tweezerman, you mention that news is coming from a URL at http://www.movabletype.org/news/newsbox.html

Is there a straightforward change I can make to the mt.cfg file to prevent this newsfeed from happening?

Thanks,

Justin.

There is no mt.cfg setting I'm aware of that will turn off the MT news box. The only setting I know of that even affects the news box would be the following:
CODE
NewsboxURL http://www.movabletype.org/news/newsbox.html

You could add that setting to mt.cfg and point it at another URL that contains a blank page, I suppose. mellow.gif

Thanks for that tweezerman.

I found a hacky sort of fix that worked for me is just bookmarking the page after the main menu - there's no waiting for that page...
