CODE
Error reading XML content: syntax error at line 1, column 49, byte 49 at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.6.1/i386-linux/XML/Parser.pm line 185 .

I'm no longer able to add entries. Suddenly this error is appearing anytime I try to add an entry, or do a manual rebuild of any of my templates. It has syntax errors with MTAmazon and MTSQL. All of which were working perfectly this morning.

THoughts?

The MTAmazon plugin is getting bad/invalid data from Amazon.

As a follow-up to this, Amazon has made changes in their API which cause this error.

I just made my first post in a week to one of my blogs and got a similar error when I tried to post:

QUOTE
MT::App::CMS=HASH(0x838a9c4)Build error in template 'Main Index': Error in tag: Error reading XML content: syntax error at line 1, column 49, byte 49 at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.1/i686-linux/XML/Parser.pm line 187 .

After reading this thread and the link to the Sourceforge thread, I tried just altering one of the associtate IDs then trying to rebuild, but I got the same error. I ended up removing the line calling the MTAmazon plugin and now the page rebuilds. :/

Anyone know if there's a true fix for this?

Adam Kalsey posted this temporary fix:

This doesn't FIX it really - it just keeps your blog from being unable to rebuild. If Amazon returns the error - MT continues to rebuild your files - whereas before, as soon as the error returned, your pages couldn't be rebuilt.

This is definitely a problem with Amazon ... hopefully they'll sort it out. (Evidently its something to do with the number of requests Amazon allows per second ... and if you have several MTAmazon tags calling info - it spazzes. Or at least thats the simplified version of the problem. I think. LOL. Anyway - this fix corrected that error - I could rebuild - my Amazon info doesn't always show up though - but at least I don't get hung in the rebuild stage)
