Sorry I can't help, but I wanted to note that I too am having problems exporting entries so that I can switch hosts. Simply put, MT isn't exporting all of my entries and is leaving the majority of them behind. Help?
What was it toshikazu?
Jennifer, long shot... but did you try a fresh mt-export.cgi?

I geocache.
Yep, that's what I meant. Re-upload, CHMOD. Now, if it makes a difference... that's another story. :P
Have you exported your entries before successfully?
I searched and searched on the boards and I can't find anything relating to this! I'm sure that Ben will come up with something.

As Brenna said: if it exports some of the entries, then stops, it is very likely something funny with one of your entries. If so, let us know, and I can suggest a modification to mt-export.cgi that may make it easier to track down the bad entry.

ok - now I see which entry it's hanging on, but I don't know why.
Should I include a link to the entry that it's having a problem with so you can see?

(don't know if this is the appropriate place for this question)I'm moving hosts, and I tried to export my entries (for import on the new host/new install of MT) but when I click on "export entries" it lists a bunch of the posts and then ends with this:
An error occurred while exporting your data:
Build error in template 'Export Template':
Help, please?

Uhmm... nevermind.

do you mean ftp a new copy of the mt-export.cgi file?
(I just tried that - but it still didn't work)
I finally found
one thread with that same error message, but I'm not sure if that's the same problem as yours!
Does it do *some* of the entries and then stop? Does it stop on the same one? Could it be something bunk in an entry?

well here's the weird thing...
the first entry it shows when I click on export entries, is neither my first or last entry (it's an entry from a few weeks ago)... and the last entry it shows before the error; the entries surrounding that one are nothing special... just text... nothing fancy...
I can email you the entry export file... and you can see what I mean...
in fact... now that I'm looking more closely... there doesn't seem to be any organization to the entry export at all... at least from a chronological standpoint...

No, that's true, there really isn't.
Here, try this: change line 93 in mt-export.cgi from this:
CODE
or die $tmpl->errstr;
to this:
CODE
or die "Export failed on entry '", $entry->title, "': ", $tmpl->errstr;
Then re-run it.

oh wait ... I think I've got it... There was a weird comment on that entry didn't have anything in it... I think it's working now...
Thanks!

Hi. I have exactly the same problem (MT begins to export, and then stop it for no reason). But there's something else to it: there's no mt-export.cgi on my installation. Doesn't the new versions have it (mine is 2.661)?

No, there's no longer an mt-export.cgi file (note that this thread is very old).

Yeah, I noticed that now. But I'm a desperate guy, you see...
