I recently upgraded from 2.661 to 3.11.
Everything seemed to be working fine.
Except comments

Currently when you enter a comment it goes to a “comment pending� page.

I do not want to use the comment moderation option. I want comments to appear as soon as they are posted.

From my reading I would have to change the ``Allow comments from registered users'' or ``Moderate comments from unregistered users'' in my weblog configuration.

But my weblog config>preferences does not seem to have a “comments� section

The last line in my weblog config>preferences screen is:

"Allow TrackBack Pings" On by Default

after this I have a line that reads


(that is all that there is on the line there is no closing bracket and pings is not written in full)

I have a feeling that there is a section missing from my weblog config/preferences

Am I correct?
Is there anyway or sorting this out?

Upload the tmpl/cms/cfg_prefs.tmpl file again to your server in ASCII mode.

Might as well check the other files in the tmpl folder while you're in there to make sure they all got uploaded correctly too.

You also need to remove MT-Blacklist 1.64 from your server as it is not compatible with MT3, and install MT-Blacklist 2.01b (which is compatible with MT 3.11) from the Plugin Pack.

I re uploaded the tmpl folder and I now have a complete weblog config.

However I still have problems with my comments.
(By the way I am using MT Blacklist Version 2.01b from the plug-in pack)

Every new comment that is posted is blocked by blacklist pending approval.
The message I get in the blacklist log is:
MT-Blacklist forced comment moderation on 'MentalAcrobatics'.

In Weblog config I have ticked:
Accept Comments from Unregistered Visitors
Require Name and Email Address Information
Automatically Approve Registered Commenters
Shouldn’t this allow comments to be posted immediately?

I have disabled Scanning of incoming comments by blacklist temporarily until I can sort this out.

But you apparently also still have MT-Blacklist 1.64 on your server, because that version's CGI script is accessible here and looks to be still working.

Make sure that the following files are deleted from your server:

MT_DIR/mt-blacklist.cgi
MT_DIR/plugins/Blacklist.pl
MT_DIR/extlib/jayallen/Blacklist.pm
MT_DIR/extlib/jayallen/MTBlPing.pm
MT_DIR/extlib/jayallen/MTBlPost.pm

(Note: You can also delete the MT_DIR/extlib/jayallen directory.)

I had deleted blacklist.pl but not the rest.
I have followed your instructions and turned blacklist back on.
Hopefully all should be well.
