Full Version: Fixing time zone problems for multiple authors?

So, I've come across another quandary.

I'm currently located in Tokyo. I set my new, shiny MT blog for Tokyo time (+9 Universal). I've made a couple posts.

A friend of mine is in the US (east coast), and just entered Daylight Savings Time.

So, I made a post, and then an hour later he made a post, but because of the DST shift his posting time was a minute before my post. I ended up editing his post time to reflect it accurately, but it's going to be a pain to have to do this all the time.

I'm not sure if there are any fixes available, but I'm wondering if people get around this problem by just manually changing the entry times. On my LiveJournal friends list it doesn't seem to matter what time the local user is posting from, I just get the latest entry at the top. Is there any way I can set that up?

thanks,

Are you talking about multiple authors in the same weblog? As you've noted, you only set the Time Zone on a per weblog basis. As far as I know, MT doesn't detect the local user's time at all, it only looks at the Time Zone setting Weblog Config as an offset from the server time. huh.gif

Remember also that the time for the post is set (unless you opt to alter it prior to Saving, or use Future Posting) when the new entry is started (ie, when you first click the New Entry link), not when it is actually published.

Ah, okay. So if I want the articles to show up in order, then I need to manually fix all related dates... there should be a fix for this in a future edition. *goes to make a feature request*

If you're wanting them to appear in the order they were published, and not when they were first started, yes.
