When I click on my weblog, I don't have the option to upload files anymore...why is this?
bruce21
You mean the button is missing? Otherwise what happens when you click upload file..
Elaina
I just don't have the button...how do I get it?
LivingDot
Are you the only person who has access to your blog? It sounds like author settings to me, a button can't just disappear from the application smile.gif

On the left it should have:

New Entry
Entries
Upload File
Comments
Trackbacks etc...

What do you have there?
Elaina
I only have

POST
New Entry
entries
comments
trachbacks
UTILITIES
search
view site

someone else set my site up so, what are these "author settings"?
maddy
When an author is created in the system, there are a number of "permissions" that the author can be given, one of which is to upload files. It looks like you're missing quite a few permissions there.

If your username has been given permission to Add/Edit Weblog Authors (this is a link you should see when you first log in to MT, on the right hand side, above "Edit Your Profile"), you should be able to add these permissions for yourself. But, if the person who set up your account did not give you sufficient permission to do this, you will need to have them login with the initial author account, and adjust the permission for you.

Or you could use MT Medic to adjust your permissions. smile.gif

The full list of permissions is this:

Post
Upload File
Edit All Posts
Edit Templates
Edit Authors & Permissions
Configure Weblog
Rebuild Files
Send Notifications
Edit Categories
Edit Address Book

Hope that helps. smile.gif

So I just download the MT-Medic and it should automaticly adjust the menu to its original state? (Sorry if I sound like a twit but its hard figuring out this stuff on my own)

Thanks for everyone's help this far!
maddy
No, it won't automatically do anything. wink.gif You'll have to follow it's installation instructions, and then when its properly installed, login to MT Medic, select your author account, and edit the associated permissions. smile.gif You should see how to do this once you've logged in to MT Medic.

Once you've got the correct permissions, MT will display the appropriate features to you in it's interface. smile.gif

Okay...just attempted to download that MT-Medic and its WAY to complicated for me so I think I'm just screwed here. Someone else set up the site for me and I just update it, i would've liked to put pics up as well though...too bad. sad.gif

thanks again
maddy
Can you contact the person who set it up for you? smile.gif

Does MT medic interact with the Moveable Type software? I just tried to download it, but it wants me to select the proper program to run it from a list... and I don't have the MT software...
