On a related note, would you be willing to share the CSS you used to display the "recent picks" in three-across columns, and the archives two-across?
I suppose I could steal, but thought it nicer to ask! :p

Cool stuff, what you describe is one of the things I love about MT. The Morning News (recently redesigned, apparently) does something similar I think. Quite simple, yet really powerful.

I just drafted a run-down of how I was able to publish a template using categories as an organizational tool for content. I've heard a number of people inquire how to do this, or something similar, and I've posted a technical explanation here:
LOL - you know, doing a three column layout using CSS should be so much simpler than it is, but it's not. I had to monkey around with it quite a lot, but finally got it working. Feel free to dig into the CSS if you wish. And thanks for asking.
