How about adding an Update button next to the Authored On field of the New Entry/Edit Entry forms? This should be easy to do in a future version and it would be really handy.

I assume you mean a button that would update the existing Authored On time to the current date and time?

I think I'd like that functionality myself. Hmmm.

Forgot about this topic but yeah I mean a button right next to the Entry Date field on the New Entry/Edit Entry page. I often start writing an entry and don't publish it until many hours later. And sometimes I save an entry as unpublished so I can work on it again at a later time. I would much rather have the published date/time correspond with the date/time the entry was actually publish instead of the date/time I started creating the entry. It would be nice if this was the way it worked by default with an option to manually set a different date/time in order to post-date or pre-date an entry.

It's funny, I think I was actually inspired to write that plugin (first called UpdateAuthoredOn) by the original post in this thread. Guess I never got around to coming back to announce it...
