We're running this site using movable type and it's my first time using this software. To date we've loved it even though our implementation is relatively simple.
What has us stumped though is a new problem that emerged when some of our writers/photographers got set up at an event back east and started submitting content.
Their first entry went as planned and showed up on the site. But all of their posts afterwards would remain visible in the admin side (and yes they are all set up correctly with 'publish' etc)... but on the public side of the site, the new entries wouldn't show.
I finally did a test on some of the existing articles which are visuble both in the public website as well as the admin side and discovered the following... changes to older entries would remain in the admin side (for example I added a couple of exclamation marks to a title) but on the public side these changes did not appear.
This makes me think that the following is happening (pardon my lack of MT knowledge while I guess what's going on)...
1. I think that the original database/archive was reproduced somehow and there were two identical database/archives running side-by-side. let's call the first db1 and the second db2. db1 contains all of the entries and comments up to the date that everything went strange on us and is currently being called on by the public website for information. db1 is NOT connected to the admin interface for some reason. db2 IS connected and contains all the of the original content plus anything we added after the date that everything went strange. This includes changes made to original entries. For some reason db2 isn't showing up on the website.
2. No one ever touched anything in the settings that we know of nor is there anything in those settings that looks out of place.
3. we haven't run out of room or anything on our webhost so I have no idea what's going on.
Just to fill in a little more.. we are using the movable type engine on Media Temple. They are great up until we've run into this problem and they seem to be washing their hands of this issue and telling us we are on our own. As you can imagine.. this is a big kick in the butt as I don't really know a whole lot about the coding etc.
ANY help would be greately appreciated. Anyone with insight please post in here asap and we'll make a little shrine to you in our office and pray to you every day for at least a week
Thanks in advance!!!!
