Full Version: Inability To Maintain Logon

My webhost provides a licensed MT install with my hosting service along with ongoing upgrades as they become available.

Such that I've already used earlier editions of MT, prior to the latest 3.2 edition, which is now installed and functioning.

My host has examined the install and doesn't find anything irregular with my install and those of others they host, such that what I have I am told is a professional upgrade as do other accounts and no other accounts with my host has reported my problem.

Which does not resolve my problem, however, and I'd like to know if anyone has any ideas about this problem:

I cannot maintain logon in my 3.2 MT install after my browser closes. When attempting (as Administrator) to access my own domain's install of 3.2, the logon page in MT is again presented and I have to repeatedly complete that page inorder to access the features.

HOWEVER, I also have author privileges on another person's domain that has 3.2 installed and functioning and on that site, once I have logged on and after repeated browser closes, I remain logged into that install.

Just not my own.

I've cleared the cache, removed all history, cookies, everything, between logons and still I cannot maintain a logon on MY site's 3.2 install.

I've allowed my firewall and security settings for my domain on which 3.2 exists generous access to my browser (no restrictions on cookies among other features) and yet no logon is maintained.

I've also checked my browser and found that a cookie IS there relating to my visit to my domain after attempting logon for MT use, and yet, the logon screen is repeatedly required of me inorder to access the MT features. Cookie or no cookie.

Any helps with this irritating problem would be very appreciated.

I am using IE with SP2 and all available updates, along with Norton Professional (firewall and antivirus, also uptodate, both set to accommodate well my domain).

I forgot to include that with my previous use of earlier MT editions, this problem of failure-to-maintain-logon did not exist.

It only appeared after the install of 3.2.

However, no browser changes, no firewall/etc. changes, the only change was that MT was upgraded to 3.2 and thus, the failure-to-maintain-logon has appeared.

Problem solved and stoopid user here.

I downloaded/installed Firefox and updated to include all existing everything.

I set the browser to remember passwords and user names.

I logged into MT 3.2 and created a shortcut for the "logged in" page that results (MT options page for Administrator).

I closed browser.

I selected shortcut and was successfully returned to MT install as maintained logon.

I assume this would be the fix, also, had I remained with IE -- although now I have Firefox to use and will stay with that .

I'm just saying that it seems to have been a case of me as stoopid user not changing the shortcut pathway for the 3.2 MT install -- however, I always allowed password/userID saves and cookies, it just might be a case of stoopid user not changing the shortcut pathway for the MT options after the upgrade.
