Full Version: Firefox Keeps Forgetting Me

Hello,

I have found that after upgrading to 3.2, Firefox 1.0.6 will not retain my password and username after I have entered it. Instead it keeps asking for it whenever I click on any page within my MT GUI.

Whatever I click on, after every click I am thrown back to the login page and after entering my credentials I can continue working fine.

IE works perfectly and before 3.2., FIrefox did so too.

Any help?

Thank you and best regards,
Bijan

Ditto, except it only happened AFTER I upgraded to using mysql for the db backend instead of bdb mode, using the "new" mt-db2sql.cgi script I was sent by tech support.

I wrote a similar issue as you have (about a day earlier, this section of this forum)...

Except I am using IE but the problem is just as you have with Firefox. I did not experience this problem prior to upgrading to MT 3.2, but after upgrading to 3.2, I cannot maintain a login in IE.

Anyone with any suggestions here, would be very appreciated. It may not be something unique to what type of browser is being used, but some other interaction by the 3.2 upgrade with whatever browser is being used...or...?

I've tried every possible setting in my browser to no avail: I have to logon to my MT 3.2 install each and every time I want to work with it.

My webhost, who provided the licensed install of MT with the upgrade to 3.2, wrote that he was able to maintain a logon in my site's installation using IE, so I cannot explore the issue because he cannot repeat the problem I am experiencing.

Yes... Firefox 1.0.6 and 1.5beta1 and Safari all with the same problem.

I feel at this very moment to be the most stoopid user imaginable.

I downloaded Firefox as alternate/new browser, to see if that would solve my failing-to-maintain-logon in IE with 3.2 MT, AND, I changed the pathway in the link to the MT program itself to the LOGGED IN MT options page (the display/pathway that exists AFTER a logon in 3.2)...and I set the browser (now, Firefox) to remember passwords...

AND presto, everything is now just fine.

My hunch is that had I done the same changes in IE, it would also be successful in remembering logon.

But, at least now I have Firefox. Just saying, try this:

-- allow cookies on your domain (if you're using a firewall program, and can set conditions per site urls)

-- allow cookies in general if you aren't/can't select per site/url settings

-- set your browser to remember passwords

-- go to the MT 3.2 logon page and LOGON

-- find yourself after logon on the MT options page and copy that url to a shortcut on your desktop

-- close your browser

-- use your shortcut to access your MT install and you should be logged in.

Worked for me. I have never felt quite so stoopid as I do at present, given that I note that the shortcut I have been using for the MT install all this time was not the same as the successful logon resulting URL that now appears with 3.2, and THAT was probably the problem for me, along with me not allowing the browser (in my earlier case, IE) to remember passwords.

I saw an article in the knowledge base about this problem.
