I have had many difficulties with Typekey recently, and they seem to be getting worse, to the point where even visitors not on Typekey can't post comments. I am using MT Version 3.17, with comment moderation.

It started with TypeKey's inability to hold a cookie for long. If I stayed logged in for more than x number of minutes then tried to post a comment, weirdness would result. My comment would generate an email to the admin (me), and it would appear on my control-panel comment list as if it were accepted into the blog--but it would not appear in the blog entry. Attempts to re-save and rebuild the comment would not make it appear, nothing would. I would have to log out, then enter the comment manually without Typekey (using a different user name, by chance). Then I would get comment moderation and could approve the comment and it would appear. I could also log out, then log back in and it would be OK for a while again.

However, even this began to fall apart. Soon, logging out and back in made no difference; even quitting and restarting the browser made no difference. Almost every attempt to leave a comment on my own blog using the Typekey system would fail. Even logging out and back in would sometimes not work.

It came to the point where anything even related to TypeKey would fail. For example, I try to use Typekey to comment and it fails; then I log out and try to comment manually, but enter my TypeKey handle ("BlogD") in the "Name" field. Not only would that not work, but it would fail even worse. Such a manual attempt would simply disappear, no email notice, no appearance in either the blog or the MT control-panel comment list. No your-comment-is-in-moderation message. It would simply vanish. I would have to open a new browser and comment manually under a different handle for the comment to finally get through.

Now I am getting email from some commenters who know me that their comments are also disappearing, and now I have gotten no comments at all for 24 hours, where I usually get five to ten, regularly. I can make comments work if I completely avoid TypeKey. Using TypeKey, success is occasionally possible but usually fails.

Nothing changed about the blog to precipitate this malfunction. I did not install any new plugins, I did not upgrade MT, nothing. It simply developed and grew.

If anyone has ANY idea what this might be, I would be deeply grateful if you could give a suggestion as to how I might fix it.
