Full Version: Is There A Way To Copy And Paste An Entire Blog

Basically I have this one blog in MT.

I have customized all the templates and styles to my liking, and now what I want to do is create a new blog based on this one. So actually what I want to do is to copy everything EXCEPT the entries into a new blog.

-new style sheet
-images directory and contents
-categories
-templates
-any other supporting files

Is there an easy way to do this or do I need to recreate everything manually?

Thanks.

I've used the TypeMover plugin to do this - you can specify which elements you wish to copy and which to restore.

TypeMover can be downloaded here but I'm not entirely sure whether it works in 3.2. A beta version is going around, you may want to email the author.

Alternatively, if TypeMover doesn't work out you could manually copy the stuff across, with the templates, just copy the code into the corresponding .tmpl file in the default_templates folder and the templates will be automatically created when you create your new blog. Images etc. will need to be manually copied over most probably through FTP or a File Manager.

I've certainly used Typemover to export and import in version 3.2. I haven't submitted it to an exhaustive test with comments an' all though.

Later ....

Now I know how I managed to get it to work! I had an old mt.cgi file with the correct configuration details in still in the mt directory. Ho hum....

Arvind's right then about a clean 3.2 install not running Typemover.

Will that plugin or whatever work with Plog 1.0? Nevermind lol...I made a new post.
