For some reason, when I post my latest entry, it displaces the layout as shown in the link above. (I had to unpublish it because I didn't want to be caught with my pants down)

The entry, for whatever reason totally sends my design askew. It does it on the permalinked page and on both corresponding archive pages.

This only happens in Windows IE and only with this post.

I tried to see if there was a weird character or symbol that would mess it up, but I couldn't come up with anything.

I tried unpublishing and re-publishing, doesn't work.

I tried making a test post that just says "test" and it only displays correctly if the troublesome post isn't there.

I tried copying the post text into an all-new post and it still messes up.

I published a text post using lorem ipsum and it works normally.

So I'm sure it has something to do specifically with that post. I just cannot put my finger on it.

Just a question - do you use any <em> tags in your entry?

I was just looking for a bug in a template, but couldn't find any - however, when I removed a pair of <em> tags from the entry, the template showed fine again.

Plenty, but that tag comes with MT, so I don't understand why it would pose a problem.

If you can't leave the entry on your site, it might be helpful if you can copy the text of the entry here in the forum (use the CODE button to make sure it's not parsed). Otherwise, we're only going to be able to guess what's going wrong.
