I actually needed to log into my control panel for my domain, add a database (love_mt) and a username (love_kristine) and associate them together.  The love_ part was automatically prefixed as its my username for my domain.  If you haven't done that already, you should probably have to get into whatever your host provides you to administer MySQL databases.

Make sure you have JUST your password in the mt-db-pass.cgi file - no other words.

If that doesn't solve your problems, post back and someone smarter than me in MySQL matters probably can help wink.gif

Ok.  I make the appropriate changes in my mt.cgi file:

QUOTE
ObjectDriver DBI::mysql
Database booge_mysql_db
DBUser thebooge

and the password changes in mt-db-pass.cgi.

I try running the conversion script and I get:

An error occurred while loading data:  Connection error: Access denied for user: 'thebooge@localhost' (Using password: YES)

What the heck?  And what exactly does

Note: the database that you specify must already exist--Movable Type cannot create it automatically!

in the installation instructions mean?  Am I supposed to have an empty database that I fill with my entries?  If so, where do I get such a database?

Sorry if these questions seem ridiculous.  I have reread the instructions a bunch of times and am obviously missing something...

Thanks

Pat
