Does your MYSQL database already exist, and did you add all the necessary lines to mt.cfg as noted in the upgrade instructions (number 9)?

I don't know anything about MYSQL, but to me, this error message seems to imply that you didn't specify a database name in mt.cfg.

(But of course, I could be wrong!)
