Full Version: Mt.cgi Process Hanging
Movable Type Community Forum > Other Product Discussion > Bugs and Odd Behavior

I've been running MovableType for a long time now, and it works great. I upgraded to MovableType 3.2 a couple of months ago with no problems. I'm running it on our server at our house which is running Linux. In the last few days, I've had problems trying to access the administrative site. I can go to the MT admin home page (logged in), but when I click on the link to my blog's admin page, or create an entry, comments, etc. (anything which I believe is potentially going to the database), the request just hangs and eventually times out. I ran top on the server and I see the mt.cgi process start up, and use roughly 30% of CPU. Even after I click stop, the server never seems to time out and it keeps running. I do another request, and it does the same thing.

I'm looking now as I type this and the requests finally stopped, it seems like 15 minutes or more after the initial request. I can't access anything on my blog's admin site. Help!

I searched the forums, google, etc. and haven't found anything like this. Nothing has changed on our system recently, and I don't have a huge blog (probably 500 posts, 100 images).

What database are you using?
rol7805
We're not using a DB, just the filesystem. FYI, after several minutes I noticed the Apache httpd threads kick up in high usage for several seconds, then the mt.cgi threads died and afterwards everything worked as normal. It's still working fine today, so maybe this was just a hiccup.

Ok. Well, if it happens again, reply to this thread and we can talk more. smile.gif
