I just completed a fresh install of MT 3.2 and everything works great!

Well, except that I am unable to assign multiple or secondary categories to an entry.

Here's what happens.
- I'll create an entry and assign it a primary category.
- I'll save and publish.
- Primary category shows up without problem.
- Click on Assign Multiple Categories.
- Pop-up window shows remaining categories.
- Select and assign categories.
- Click save and then close on pop-up window.
- Click on Save in main entry window.
- Click on Assign Multiple Categories again.
- Pop-up shows all categories except for primary category, even the categories I assigned and saved previous.

Any help is appreciated.

What browser are you using?

Is it that the entries aren't being assigned to the additional categories (aren't checked within the popup), or that they aren't being published to your site? If you view the Categories screen, and select those additional categories, are the entries being correctly associated there?
rathi
I cannot assign entries any additional categories. When I look at the Categories screen the only entries that are shown are entries that have a particular category as the primary category.

I am using Firefox 1.5.0.1 and Internet Explorer 6.02900.2180.xpsp_sp2_050301-1519.

Thanks.

Some licensees are seeing problems with Firefox 1.5 - are you seeing exactly the same behaviour as you've described in IE6?

To confirm - you are able to initially check the multiple categories? But after saving the entry, they are no longer checked?

Yes, I'm seeing the same behavior in both Firefox and IE.

When I add additional categories to an entry and save I get the following message.

The secondary categories for this entry have been updated. You will need to SAVE the entry for these changes to be reflected on your public site.

I then close the Assign Multiple Categories window and save the entry. After the entry is saved I go back to the Assign Multiple Categories window and no additional categories are assigned.

These screenshots were taken on my Mac, but the results are the same on Firefox 1.5 and Safari 2.0.3.

Thanks for the help.

Was this a fresh installation of Movable Type (in a new directory), or an upgrade? Are you using any alt-templates or plugins which replace files in the /tmpl/cms/ directory at all?

In Movable Type 3.2 you should be able to assign multiple categories before saving a new entry. Are you able to do this?

This is a fresh install on a new hosting account on with no prior MT installation.

The only mods I have added are MTenlcosures and Tags.

I am not able to select more than one category when creating a new entry.

Thanks.

Actually, today I removed the MT install - directories, database and all. I then reinstalled MT and everything works fine now.

Thanks.

I believe the Tags plugin uses an alternate template for the entry editing screen, so that may have been part of the problem, if it had not been updated for the new version. smile.gif
