I'm running MT 3.2, on Fedora 4 (2.6.14), with MySQL 4.1.13 and Apache 2.0.55. Things have been great, for the last couple of years actually. Then about a month ago MovableType went bad. I can now only post from the server on which the app resides. And even then it's a crap shoot whether it will work or not. Mt.cgi hangs, it seems, forever on each task. Occasionally it completes and my actions will be successful. When I run top, and select the apache user, I always see a dozen defunct mt.cgi processes. If I restart httpd then I can usually work for a little while before MT starts dieing again. Anyone have any idea what's up?

I'm having the same problem, out of no where-- with no modifications to my system-- MT.cgi is now running at a snail's pace. I too have no errors in my logs. Everything is running so slow that the admin interface times out just trying to load the entries list.

What is LaunchBackgroundTasks set to in my-config.cgi? What plugins do you have installed? Which database are you using?
