Full Version: Free Personal Edition - To Commercial License

I'm about sold on Movable Type as the CMS system to integrate into our community news site. I will purchase a commercial license - but my question is this:

Can I install the free personal edition to see what it is like to use (not actually using it on the site - just to see what it is like to customize). If it looks good then - when I purchase the commerical license do I need to re-install - or can I just enter the upgraded license info? Will it be a valid demo - that is are the programs essentially the same, just the licensing is different?

Thank you for your help.

You can use the free version and when you purchase your license, you'd just enter your Update Key into the application. smile.gif

To clarify what Lisa has said: You can use the free version for a period of thirty days for evaluation purposes only. If you decide to purchase the commerical license, you can then do so and update your installation to use your license key. If you do not purchase the license within that period for any reason, you would need to delete the installation, or otherwise ensure your usage is within the terms of the free personal edition.

The other option you would have, would be to purchase the appropriate license. We offer a 30-day money back guarantee, so if you decided that Movable Type did not meet your needs within that time, you could request a refund (delete the installation, or otherwise ensure your usage is within the terms of the free personal edition).
