Hello -
For some reason, an unstyled, partial blog entry keeps popping up on my homepage! At least in Firefox, that is.
I am test-running MT on my website, www.illcutyou.com. I am only using MT to manage blogs that are located within my site, not for the main site architecture. In my publishing settings, I have the Site URL set as http://www.illcutyou.com/aay/blog/, and the Site Root is set as /home/illcutyo/www/www/aay/blog.
The blog itself looks fine. However, now when you attempt to go to my homepage by typing http://www.illcutyou.com into a browser, all you see is an unstyled blog page consisting of the title, description, and some of the sidebar contents. There are no actual entries, and all the links are broken. Upon viewing the source, all the links point to one directory higher than where my actual blog is located - for example, the archives link points to http://www.illcutyou.com/aay/archives.html instead of http://www.illcutyou.com/aay/blog/archives.html.
This mystery file is nowhere to be found on my server - my original homepage, http://www.illcutyou.com/index.html, is still intact, and still accessible, but ONLY if you type in the full address. If you leave out index.html (as most people do), it jumps to this damaged blog page instead of going to the true index as it should. Where is this new homepage file being generated from, and what settings can I alter to prevent this? It's ruining the front end of my site, its ugly, and doesn't even work.
