when i publish a new entry i keep getting error messages re pings not working... think it has something to do with how i tried to disable trackbacks... any ever seen this message and how to fix my templates so i stop getting it? thanks for any ideas

Okay, so what did you do to try and disable trackbacks that you think might be causing this?

i removed the code related to trackbacks under each entry and turned off trackbacks in the entry settings, but left outbound trackbacks on.... it's all very confusing to me now, but not sure i really need/want any of the trackback stuff on anymore... should i? but still not sure what is causing the ping errors . thanks!

Does your weblog have a name (in the weblog configuration)? Might seem like a stupid question, but since that is what weblogs.com is telling you is preventing the ping, it's a good place to start.

ahhhh... no, it doesn't! i had to take it out for reasons i can't totally remember, but believe it was because the name/words were appearing in the top banner and the only way i could figure out to get rid of them was to take out the weblog name which i didn't (until now) think affected anything else... so if that's the only problem/cause then i think i may just keep getting those messages for the moment because i don't know how to fix it otherwise... thanks for clarifying!
