Hi. I need to remove a posting from my site, but accidentally deleted the entry in movable type, when I should have (I think) unpublished it. Now I can't find any trace of the entry on the movable type pages, though the entry still appears on my website. Does anyone know how to go back and find the original entry on movable type so I can unpublish it?
Thanks.

that's what deleting does...remove the entry from the database. the only way to restore the entry is to create a new one and copy/paste the content from your archive. Once you do a rebuild, even that will go away though.

So if I copy and paste and build a new entry, is there any way now (with the original entry deleted) to get that post off the website that the public can see? Basically I'm wondering why the public website shows this entry, but I can find no record of it on the movable type site I used to build my website. I need to get the posting off the public website, but to do that, I need to be able to find it on the movable type site. So are you saying that by copying and pasting the content from the post that I want removed, that I will then be able to unpublish that?

I will guess that you are not using dynamic publishing for your archives, so you will have to go to the server and manually delete the HTML file for that entry from your archive folder. that will get rid of the offending entry. Unless you really want to keep it around, there would really be no point in replicating the post in a new entry.
