Hello,

I purchased a personal license for MT 3.17 in July of '05 for $69.95. I may be wrong, but I remember the license covering 5 "users", am I not correct? I didn't use the program much but now I'm considering it for another project, which is non-profit, by the way. I downloaded v.3.33 and noticed on the pricing page the personal license now covers 1 user, and is $49.95. Am I allowed 5 users since (unless I am mistaken) those were the terms of the license I purchased last year?

The program allows me to create multiple authors, so if I used multiple authors will I be in violation of the terms of the license?

Thanks in advance. smile.gif

Logic answered the first part of my question. If I downloaded v3.33, then I am bound by the terms of the current license. That should have been obvious.

The software does not have limitations and the licensing agreement is on the honor system. I certainly want to abide by the terms of the license, and so now I will consider whether to pay $150.00 for a five user license, or pay $6.00 per month to my host pair Networks which will provide MT with unlimited users and blogs.

I think you might still be confusing yourself. First, let's define "non-profit." Do you mean that in the formal sense(eg, a 501©3 organization), or are you just saying you won't be making any money from the project?

If it's actually a proper non-prof, a 5-user license is $49.95. (Click the link just above the Movable Type Enterprise header on the pricing page.)

Also, I'm fairly sure that the Pair-backed installation is a personal license, and does not entitle you to official support from Six Apart, though you should check on that to confirm.

Thank-you for pointing that out, Sue. Its for a church and I believe that would fit the same category as 501.c3. Do I have the part correct about the license I purchased in 07/05 not being of any value towards v3.33?

Pair is advertising unlimited users and blogs, by the way, and they are offering support but recommend checking these forums first with questions.
