I am so frustrated with this I could scream....

I copy and paste an entry from a word doc, or web page and it crashes mt.cgi totally-

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

The post doesn't save and I can't figure out why it is doing this.

Ironically, if I were to write it out in the MT entry page. It will post fine...

Operating system: linux
Perl version: 5.8.7

DBI (version 1.53).

DBD::mysql (version 4.001).

Hello brese,

That sounds quite wired...

Can you send me via email the word document that makes your blog crash together with access to your blog?

I will have a look and try to fix it for you

Good luck,

It could be a problem with unicode or other character encoding. What happens when you paste from notepad?

Make sure that the permissions are set correctly on the directories where MT is supposed to build the files - if it can't write there then it will fall over.

Did you check the server logs to see what errors get thrown when mt.cgi crashes?

The error log only shows:

[Mon Feb 12 11:19:51 2007] [error] [client 198.184.148.225] File does not exist: /home/baneful/public_html/404.shtml
[Mon Feb 12 11:19:51 2007] [error] [client 198.184.148.225] File does not exist: /home/baneful/public_html/favicon.ico
[Mon Feb 12 11:18:46 2007] [error] [client 198.184.148.225] File does not exist: /home/baneful/public_html/500.shtml

posting will work if I limit this entry to 23 lines also, which would indicate the permissions are set correctly.

I think this is a bonafide bug and I am submitting a support ticket to Six Apart.

UPDATE-

I have qualified that there is a word that causes the failure-
"cat scan"

When it is two words the 500 error happens, when I make it one word- catscan it works fine.
