Full Version: Core Files: Running Out Of Disk Space?

Hi all -

Not sure if this is the right place for this question, but I'm guessing it has something to do with db's.

I got an email from my host saying that I was in danger of running out of disk space (I've got 3GB, so this was a bit surprising). Turns out, over 500MB have built up in my cgi-bin folder, the bulk of which are these core.### files that range from 16MB to 33MB in size.

My question is: are these all necessary files? Are they created when there is an error of some kind? Can I delete them, or will this make my entire blog melt down?

Thanks for any time or advice you can lend. A bit of a noob with MT, and still feeling my way around.

Apparently, I'm going around answering my own posts here. Are these forums dead, or is it just low traffic and everyone's over getting official support?

At any rate, did a lot more digging around and found this:

Just an FYI, in case someone else looks this up in the future.

Thanks, I really needed this information. I had a couple dozen of these files in my mt directory, and couldn't find the information among the support documents until you published that link.
