Full Version: Restoring Author And Password En Db
Movable Type Community Forum > Installing and Upgrading > Databases

It's becoming obvious to me that a hosted incremental backup solution has failed and a MT MySQL database may not be recoverable.(I can't determine user error or corruption at this point) and I have two problems:

a) I canīt get into the movabletype publishing platform because the user and password are invalid now (I donīt know how this it happened) and appears a strange message:

Odd number of elements in anonymous hash at /var/www/html/virtual/todomujer.cl/cgi-bin/MT/lib/MT/App/CMS.pm line 235

b) I donīt know how to use de db

Thanks for any help, Regards,

Beatriz

Dear Beatriz,

Please describe a bit more in detail how your problem started.

It may be that some files on your server are not completely uploaded or are uploaded in a wrong format (they need to be ASCII, excepting the /mt-static/ folder)

As for the username / password recovery since you are not very technical savvy at working with databases, you may like to use the MT Medic plugin ( http://www.nonplus.net/software/mt/MT-Medic.htm?page=4 ).

Good luck,

Dear Mihai: thanks for your help and instructions which I follow as it was said. All though when I tried to enter to My Blog keeps saying no users author and when I tried to recover the password appeareas this message: No such author with name 'Beatriz Letelier' (the one specify in the MT-Medic.htm).

I am not sure how this trouble appears. It could happened when my webhosting make changed the db to localhost or it seems to me that could happend that some one could have enter some strange code in some comment not approved yet ŋIs it possible that someone could have hacker the site sending comments?

Thatks for your help.

Dear Beatriz,

Checking out i see that you are running MT v3.01D.

Unless I personally check it I'm afraid I cannot help much.

Another thing you may consider is having you, I or somebody else check your database with phpmyadmin and trying to recover the password from there.

Also, trying to upgrade your weblog platform may help get rid of this problem. On the latest two builds (currently at MT v3.34) there were a few security issues being solved.

Kind Regards,
