Hi - I've got less than 500 subscribers to my blog. I use the built-in Notifications feature in MT 3.2. Until recently I had no problem sending my notifications which I trigger manually after posting a new entry.

My hosting service, DreamHost, is now blocking my emails from going out due to the number of emails sent by MT's Notification Feature. Somehow I am above a threshold of subscribers and therefore are now getting blocked.

In my request to increase the "throttle" for freedom to send more notifications without blocking, they've asked to prove I'm in compliance with their AntiSpam Policy. The key items are noted here:

QUOTE
In order to increase your limit at all, we will need to first verify

that you are in compliance with our AntiSpam policy.

The most important aspects of this policy, which we would like you to

address, are:

1. Whether or not you have used an opt-in confirmation process (not to be

confused with regular 'opt-in') for all of your list's subscribers. This

is a process wherein each person who signs up for your list is sent an

email after subscribing with a tagged link in it that they must click on

before being added to the list. Those who do not click on the link are

not added, and receive no further bulk email.

2. Whether you log each confirmation with the date/time and IP address

associated with that confirmation.

3. Where we may go to independently review your opt-in confirmation

logging data.

Also, we would like to know where we may sign up for your mailing list in

order to test out its opt-in confirmation functionality.

If your bulk email usage is not in compliance with these policies, we

must ask that you cease any bulk email activity immediately until you

have become compliant. The easiest way to do that is to use our

Announcement List feature, which you can access here:

https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=mail.list

The Announcement List feature handles the opt-in confirmation and logging

aspects of the policy for you, so that you don't have to.

Key to this compliance is the logging of the IP address and the date and time of the "subscription". And then providing DreamHost access to this log.

I imagine this information is in the Notification Database, but I don't know about the IP... as such does anyone know if this is possible or suggestions on how I might comply with this policy short of having to switch to a traditional list server/manager?

I'm sure others hosting at DH or other companies with AntiSpam policies have to address this or have in the past...

MT-Notifier looks interesting but seems to try to solve other problems I don't have and offers other features not needed.

thanks
