I'm having some trouble with the URLs/file names for our Individual Archives. The Basename length is set to 15 (default) and we have the basename editing field for new entries locked so posters can't edit it, but some entries (not all!) are still using the full entry title as the basename despite these settings. Has anyone else come across the same issue or know what might be causing this?

Are they actually using the full title, or are they just longer by some amount that the full title happens to fit in?

Has your basename length always been 15? Are those posts older than whenever you changed it, and have you gone and looked at their basenames? I'll bet you they're longer. Remember basenames are supposed to be permanent.

Yes, it is using the entire title, even up to 140 characters (the longest title entered).



I'm not sure how long it's been 15 characters, but up until January 2007 the basenames were consistently truncated to 15 characters. Since then, some basenames have been truncated correctly and some use the full title and I can't find a pattern to the ones with the long vs. short names.
