Ok. Now that I research everything I should have switched to MySQL a long time ago. My bad.

But this is where I am at:

A week or so ago I could not log into my MT 3.32. I kept getting a 500 error. I thought it would be a good time to upgrade. I normally backup before upgrading but considering I could not log in not matter what permissions I set, I decided to go ahead and go to the new 4.01.

Everything seemed to go pretty smoothly ... much smoother than any other MT installation. THAT I'm excited about. But when I checked the mt-config.cgi I saw the note about no longer using BerkeleyDB. Um. Ouch.

I go digging for the older mt-db2sql.cgi stuff because it's not on 4.01. I edit mt-config.cgi (and mt.cfg just in case) with the MySQL info. Ran mt-db2sql.cgi and I keep getting "Cannot find method 'set_driver' for class 'MT::Object'" - So - i think I may be screwed here.

Now that I'm where I'm at... does anyone know if there is a way to use the new import system to bring in my old posts (and comments hopefully)?
Or does anyone have a command-line or web-based tool that I can use to export the BerkeleyDB into the new import format for 4.01?

HELP! smile.gif Please?!

Maybe give DBConvert a try? I can't recall immediately if it'll take Berkeley as input, but I believe so.

Insert usual disclaimer here about making sure you have a backup around, etc.

One thing to watch for if you go through with it, though, is that I think it only converts your original MT data. If you were using any plugins that created their own database tables, it might not go along for the ride.
