I"ve been having a problem tracking back to a story with MT 4.01. I created this entry on my site:

When I did it, I wanted to track back to this link:

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2007/12/rangers-acquire.html

In that page, it has trackback info. Which it lists as this:

TrackBack URL for this entry:
http://www.typepad.com/t/trackback/447826/24175558

So I put that in my entry field in MT. It tried pinging it. Looked fine on the page where it says "Pinging...."

I then get an error saying there was a problem, and to look in the activity log. Activity log says this:

"Ping 'http://www.typepad.com/t/trackback/447826/24 175558' failed: Source URL doesn't link to target site http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/"

Uh, why is there a space in my trackback URL like that? Is MT doing that? I don't understand why this is. I've written to the guy who runs mlbtraderumors before about this, and he says that he's not having problems with pings, so is this a MT 4.01 problem? Anyone else run into this?

This means your own entry does not contain a link to the TypePad post.

TypePad requires sites sending TrackBacks to actually link to the target entry from within the source entry, not just send the ping, as part of the fight against spammers.

I've since found that out, although the error msg isn't specific enough IMO to tell me I need to be doing that.

Also, do you have any idea why the error msg has a space in the URL? That seems odd.
