I most often use dynamic publishing for my MT 4 sites, but recently became concerned I was using too many hosting resources. A few of my MT sites (blogs) are limited to less than 20 entries, so I went to the publishing settings for these blogs and changed them to publish static archives only. Other blogs with hundreds of pages/entries I left alone.
A few days later I went to post an entry on one of the dynamic site, and found ALL index and archive templates on ALL my MT blogs I had set to dynamically publish were set to be static. Oddly, the pages still were publishing dynamically, and only broke after I saved the new entry.
So I had to then go through ALL my blogs and open each index and archive page, check the 'publish dynamically' box and save. This probably took up to 2 hours as I use many index archives for some sites.
What a pain.
Can anyone explain why this might have happened?
