Full Version: Cannot Sign Up For Pronet - Endless Looping Survey

I cannot sign up for pronet. I just filled out the survey and it keeps sending me back to the beginning and I cannot find what needs correcting in the giant bugger. It finally just came up blank after 15 minutes of trying to be a community survey filler outer. My typekey is all set up. Can someone help me get onto the pronet without doing the bugger survey again?

Passing on to a couple people.

Me too. In fact, I had successfully signed up some time ago and recently got into loop just trying to sign in, or register again.

Hey Su-

How is that "passing it along" going to get me through thee form onto the pronet pages? Maybe someone could email me how to get on.

By raising with the web master that there is a problem with the registration page that needs to be fixed?

I've had that same issue for a while now.. MONTHS in fact. I just got tired and stopped trying but now i'l lsee if they answer you.
radicalism.us
I got an answer and a promise on this board and an answer and a promise by email to the pronet webmaster. Then nothing. It's tottally lame. Whatever the problem in their system, they could have skipped the answers and promises to me and just inserted my name ino the approved users file. Usability is not the highest priority with MT at all steps.

HELLO! ARE ANY OF YOU READING THIS! JUST SIGN US UP FOR PRONET. WHAT IS THE BEAUROCRATIC PROBLEM?!?!

You think they heard?

I'm going to file something directly in the bug system now that I have access to it, but let's try one other thing. See if you can join the list directly via http://www.sixapart.com/mailman/listinfo/pronet (No promises)

thanks su- Nope...here is what mailman said

Bug in Mailman version 2.1.8

We're sorry, we hit a bug!
Please inform the webmaster for this site of this problem. Printing of traceback and other system information has been explicitly inhibited, but the webmaster can find this information in the Mailman error logs.

radicalism.us
What else besides the email list is made available through the website pronet subscription login?
Carlo Laitano
i was able to subscribe successfully! Now.. is this the same thing as the one found in the main sixapart site? (the same one that wouldn't work for us?) cuase it didn't ask me all of the other questions.. just e-mail, name, password

I would assume so. That's the list manager for it, bypassing the questionnaire.
As far as the bug notice radicalism.us got, there was a problem with Mailman the other day that was resolved, if you want to give it another shot.
OtherNiceMan
Mailman should be up and running again. Are you still having problems?
radicalism.us
hey thanks for responding,

The mailman signup works now. But that was not my original problem.

The problem is the endless looping survey trying to sign up on the website to be able to login to the pro net section of the website. I don't know what you get when you login. But it sure must be really something considering the amount of time and hassle.

I do want this product and it's support to succeed and be usable. On this bug, MT gets an F minus. My original post is ovveer 60 days old!

Is is possible this is a problem of the Apple OSX firfox/safari I use?

It has been a while since I signed up, can you give me the link to the survey please.
radicalism.us
thanks Rob. On the pronet page, there is a link to sign up which sends you to the survey. Trying to login without having completed this long form also sends you back to the beginning of the survey. I guess you should make sure you are logged out in your web broawser to access:

I just went through the whole process without any problem. At the end clicked on sign up and it went through.

Yeah I expect it works most of the time but There is at least one other person out there whom it does nto work for. Can you tell me what is the benifet of logging into the prronet site besides SA tracking me?

This failure to respond for months concerns me because as I am developing websites and plans based on MT, there does not seem to be an awake community involved in solving problems to their conclusion besides you at the moment. How can I know that as I am developing an organizations website, I won't just suddenly be out in limbo with a problem for months? You probably cannot answer that. It more for the archeological record. When aliens discover our destroyed civilization in thousands of years, perhaps they will be able to solve the bug.

There is nothing worse than an intermittent bug. I work for a software company and having our test department come back that they can not replicate the issue is always a pain.

There is not a lot there, the main benefits are the mailing lists and the MT pro license.

If you are developing sites and want a timely response then you need a support contract, you can then raise trouble tickets. I raised one on Friday evening and had the solution Saturday evening which is not bad considering I am in GMT. I did not expect an answer over the weekend.

There a really 2 types of problem; trivial and non-trivial. Trivial problems are configuration issues, minor tweaks etc. Non-Trivial require developer time to fully investigate, with any software these will take longer to get a fix.

These forums are for support from the community, i.e. those that don't have a contract. The 6A support people do come here sometimes and answer questions.

Thank you 'voice of reason' for bringing me down off my dramatic high horse. Though I think even the best for-profit American corporation needs to be upbraided for bad interface with people and how they handle 'our' money. What got me worked up is the taking of time from devoted supporters like me

Confronted with our second King George here in America, my people need to learn to stand for themselves more. I say, corporations are fair game for practice in asserting our voices on behalf of the people.

All power to the people!
