Full Version: Pages Not Publishing

I've been using MT for years, but this is the first time I've tried to create Pages. I must be missing something...

I've created a couple of pages, both in the root directory of my blog (which is at mydomain/blog/).

Both are set with a Status of 'Published'. When I click the 'View published page' link on the Edit Page screen, it just links me to mydomain/blog/ , rather than, say, mydomain/blog/about_me.html ).

The new pages aren't at the URL I'd expect of them (such as mydomain/blog/about_me.html) and I've poked around on my server and can't see them anywhere else obvious (eg, mydomain/about_me.html) .

Is there some step I'm missing to make this work? I've tried creating a Folder and putting the Pages within that, but have the same lack of joy. Thanks in advance.

While doing something else I realised the problem: I didn't have a Page template set up in the Archive Temlates.

I now vaguely remember one of the installation instructions while upgrading to MT4 that you should set one up, and I obviously didn't. I've done so, and now the Pages publish fine.

Odd that there was no error message like "there is no template for this Page" or something though...

I am also having this problem after upgrading from 3.3 (via 3.35) to 4.01 over the weekend. I really like the idea of <b>pages</a> since I had hacked this functionality for myself in to MT since 2.6. It was one of the drivers for me upgrading, and now I can't seem to make it work sad.gif

I'm getting the exact same thing. I can edit and publish, but I don't actually have a page that works. Even though it get reported as being successful.

I have looked in to the MT docs and the pages features seems to be very brief. I want to put PHP snippets directly into the pages, at the moment the publishing system doesn't seem to allow this. I'm surprised that there is isn't a section dedicated to pages. I'm almost tempted to go back to using templates linked to files, since they allow PHP snippets in them.

@fabius if you manage to work out how to make it work then please post back.

UPDATED: Just seen your post will give that a go! Thanks!
