This one makes no sense to me.

If I have the "Use Publishing Queue" box checked (in Preferences > Blog Settings > Publishing) in order that I may publish scheduled future posts (with a correct and working cron job), NOTHING will publish out to the server. Even when I manually click save & publish any index or entry, MT 4.01 "says" that it is currently publishing, and then acts perfectly fine as if it did publish. But nothing is published. Nothing is updated.

If I uncheck this "Use Publishing Queue" box, then everything works as it should. But then I cannot use the scheduling feature.

What's up??? Anybody know any workarounds?

I know that the idea of a queue is to wait your turn, but should not "save & publish" override the queue and publish immediately?

FYI: My cron job is set to run every three hours. I don't publish frequent enough to unnecessarily burden the server with a cron job running more than that.

Thanks for any advice or help.

What makes you say this? At least in theory, if the cron job is working, your posts would be getting published. So, what's your evidence that the cron job is fine?

No. The PubQueue overrides the publishing process completely.

Then your site will publish with an up to 3hour lag. So, have you allowed at least that much time after making a post to decide that it's not working?
What kind of server are you on that a 3hour interval is where you've ended up at "not being a burden?" Even the hosts I know of who place limits on this allow at least hourly jobs.

What specifically do you mean by "scheduling feature"? Are you referring to the Publising Queue? Or do you mean the ability to set entries to Scheduled (and have them published at a later time/date)? I ask because these two features are really independent of each other. If you are thinking that you need to enable the Publishing Queue to create scheduled entries, that is incorrect.
